BRS Petition against turncoat MLAs
Hyderabad: The BRS party has filed two petitions in the Supreme Court against the disqualification of its 10 MLAs, who joined the ruling Congress party from the BRS party. It said even after nine months since it filed a complaint against the 10 party MLAs, the assembly speaker had not taken a decision on its complaint.
A Special Leave Petition (SLP) has been filed by the party against the turncoat party MLAs Kadiyam Srihari, Tellam Venkatarao and Danam Nagender. A writ petition was filed against the remaining seven turncoat MLAs Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Kale Yadaiah, Dr Sanjay, Arikepudi Gandhi, Prakash Goud, Mahipal Reddy and Krishna Mohan Reddy.
The BRS party told the court that even after six months of the High Court's verdict, the assembly speaker has not yet initiated any action in the issue. In the petition, the BRS stated that not even a single notice was given to the rebel MLAs of the party by the Speaker. The BRS had asked the court to implement the verdict given in the Kesam Megha Chandra case. It recalled that the SC, in its verdict in the case of Kesam Megha Chandra, had asked the assembly Speaker to take a decision on the complaints of the parties within three months. The BRS said the assembly speaker did not take a decision in accordance with the verdict in the Megha Chandra case. The BRS requested that the Speaker be directed to take a decision within four weeks.
